The 1996 Billboard Music Awards
Let's Pray You Didn't Miss This Show!
Like every other die-hard Dishwalla fan on the planet, the night of December 4th was one I'll not soon forget. "...It's one thing for any alternitive band to win Rock Track of the Year but it's a totally differnt thing in the case of Dishwalla, where it was their very first single that won,... these boys arn't stupid..." That was what John Crusso, of the 1996/97 National Radio Convention Commitee had to say about Dishwalla's Counting Blue Cars walking off with the Rock Track of the Year award at the Billboards this year.
What does everyone else think of our boys now?
"...Damn, has it been a year in music, 2Pac, Oasis splitting up, then Oasis and Unplugged, then Oasis again for something else, oh yeah, drugs, would someone just shoot their little Brittish asses so they'll shut the f*ck up already? And Madonna and her kid, then that thing with Van Halen,... not that one, the other one... and these kids from Santa Barbra come in and kick Matallica's ass out of the scene, I was actually laughing when I heard who had won..." --Howard Stern the Howard Stern Show
"...I'm not sure, I was watching Talk Soup durring the Billboards..." --Conan O'Brien late night with Conan O'Brien
"...Did you see the look on J.R.'s face when that guitar did that thing, man, I was flippin'! His eyes didn't look very blue there though... --Mindy Morell the girl who sits behind me in 7th period Health class
It was something, and the problems in the equiptment made the live preformance by Dishwalla sound even cooler. Even though they cut Counting Blue Cars into shreads and started from the middle of the song, then proceeded to play for six minutes, it was an incredible show. There are actually copies of the entire show, editied and formatted avalible at most of the FOX stations throughout the country. You'll want one if you missed the live show.
The American Music Awards
No, they wern't nominated for anything, and that was a little upsetting, but they did present the Award for Favorite Band, which went to The Smashing Pumpkins, however, they wern't there so J.R. accepted the award for them.
Now you know I couldn't let it go! Didn't you? Okay then, J.R. was wearing that baby-poop-green jacket (I love it by the way), the black and white shoes (duh), and black pants.
Rodney, as always, was super casual but still looked cool. He had a on a huge blue button-up deal and grey pants (maybe jeans) with a chain. I've never seen him without it actually. He looked fine though, as goofy as it sounds.
George, okay, he's what? 5'6" and absollutly adorable, a blue suit and a black shirt under it.
For some reason, no Scot, but their travelling keyboardist, and friend Jim Wood was there, I really like his hair. Kinda' a white-guy's corn-row thing. Hxe was dressed like George only a blue shirt and black suit.
They were with Donna Di Erico so I'm sure they were thrilled. :) Incase you care, she had on a black dress.
