Girl From Mars by Ash
A-
Awesome! Plus the lead singer bears a striking resemblance to George from Dishwalla
Despratly Wanted (aka:Despratly Wanting) by Better Than Ezra
A+
Is this the coolest song you've ever heard or what?! It's right up there on my list with Casual Affair (by Tonic and if you don't have Lemon Parade -their CD- go get it now!). "...I remember running through the wet grass, falling a step behind, both of us never tiring, despratly wanted..." Only I'm embarrassd to say I don't have any of their albums yet so I can't tell anyone else to go get it until I do.
Good by Better Than Ezra
A
For the longest time, I thought this was a Greenday song... I thought I had finally found a song by Greenday that I liked,... aparently I havn't though. It's a great up-beat, kind of song from their second album (the first album on a real label), Deluxe.
In The Blood by Better Than Ezra
A
I love this song, man! It's just like Good in that I had NO IDEA who sang it. Now that I have Deluxe I can tell you it's not what you'd expect.
Come Down by Bush
A
Great work Gavin! The first song he wrote for Sixteen Stone and it still drives me nuts when I hear it on the radio
Glycerine by Bush
A+
He's brilliant (and gorgeous)! It won the 1996 VMA's Viewer's Choice Award
Greedy Fly by Bush
B+
Great song but since it came out on single that's just about all CLG plays, unless you want to listen to VAQ or B94 and hear Genuine and Kieth Sweat 24-7, you've got to put up with it
Machine Head by Bush
A+
I'm not sure but everyone keeps telling me this was an old Deep Purple song (I guess the album called Machine Head by Deep Purple would also be some indication of that now wouldn't it?) so I guess Gavin can't take all the credit, but still, it's his band so there.
Swallowed by Bush
A
It's overplayed on the radio so I kind of avoid track three when I'm listening to Razorblade Suitecase, but it's still a great song.
Charlie Brown's Parents by Dishwalla
A+
Beyond Awesome! Kick-ass riffs that have everyone in the back of the room durring my 7th period health class head banging (right Nikki?)
Counting Blue Cars by Dishwalla
A+
It's the best song I've ever heard. I'm not sure of it's stats, exactally, but I do know it won Rock Track Of The Year, amazing concidering this is the second single off the first album for Dishwalla, I love yu guys! Keep 'em coming!
Give by Dishwalla
A+
This is definatly the coolest love song I've ever heard. It's pure Dishwallay, whatever the hell that means anyway. It's on it's own and it stands on it's own. Just like the band, they won't fit into your preconceived notion, they just color outside the lines of everything traditional and kick it's ass.
Haze by Dishwalla
A+
This was Dishwalla's first single and it totally tanked, why I could never ever ever in a million years imagine cos it's an incredible song about some chick who ruined her family with drinking and she wants to change and it's really sweet and HELL! It's Dishwalla! Anyway, it rocked.
Big Me by The Foo Fighters
A+
The most hilarious video ever. I hate those mentos commercials and it bashes 'em bad. No Taylor in this vid but dat's otay.
Everlong by The Foo Fighters
A+
What a cool song, and an even cooler video, notice their gorgeous drummer Talor in drag and a "Save the Whales" sweat shirt.
Monkey Wrench by The Foo Fighters
A+
Kick-ass. This video is so cool. From what I get, it's based on a dream Dave Grohl had where imposter Foo Fighters were in his apartment playing and The Foo Fighters were looking in from the peep hole at them. Then they scare the imposters off and come in the apartment and finish the song. There's a good shot of Taylor's butt as he's climbing over his bass drum too.
1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins
B+
I never really liked the song until I got my butt around to buying Mellon Collie' for myself then I really started to trip for it. It's definatly the driving song! (You've GOT to hear the Open House Party re-mix of this song!)
Thirty-Three by The Smashing Pumpkins
A+
I've heard this song over a hundred a times and still get a little weepy when it comes on the radio or the CD turns around to track three. I's basically about some dude who was treating everyone like crap then finds out he's teminal and is asking for forgivness, "...and in the same old haunts I still find my friends, mysteries not ready to reveal..." Awesome song, but get out your hanky...
Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins
A
SP at their near-greatest.
Bullet With Butterfly Wings by The Smashing Pumpkins
A+
Wicked! They ussually don't play it on hit music stations, just the rock stations, because it's classed as 'hard rock', although I'm not sure why but the Grammy people seem to think it is,... I'm sure Billy, James, and D'Arcy arn't complaining.
Zero by The Smashing Pumpkins
A
"...bullsh*t fakers, enchanted kingdoms, fashion victoms through their charcoal teeth..." (that's just my favorite line from the song). It's great, only it's a lot like Bullet With Butterfly Wings in the fact that gennerally, it's just played by rock stations and don't expect to hear it between The Counting Crows and Tracy Chapmen.
Casual Affair by Tonic
A+
This is my favorite Tonic song. It was the second single off their first album,... INTERESTING FACT: "There will never be a video for this song [Casual Affair]." --Jeff Russo, lead guitar
If You Could Only See by Tonic
A-
Another favorite song of mine by Tonic. Speaking of videos, Video Debut: Sunday Night, March 16th, 1997 120 Minutes on MTV
Open Up Your Eyes by Tonic
A
This was their first single, a wise choice, it got quite a few people interested in the band and the video got lots of play on The Box.
The Freshmen by the verve pipe
A+
What a cool song. And guess what? Brian still maintains that "soul patch", I actually got close enough to see and he didn't call security on me! Did I mention I got to meet the verve pipe?
Photograph by the verve pipe
A+
This is prolly my favorite verve pipe song. I love that keyboard intro and abuse of the bass :~)
Villians by the verve pipe
A+
"...It's definatly one of the more rockin' tunes on the album,... it starts out real quiet then works into a frenzy..." --Brad Vander Ark
Deluxe by Better Than Ezra
A+
It's pure Better Than Ezra. It's all very heart-felt and real. It avoids sounding too raw and still gets to the real feeling of each of the songs.
Friction, Baby by Better Than Ezra
A+
What can I say, it's simply cool music! There's no other way to put it!
Pet Your Friends by Dishwalla
A+
They're not my favoite band for no reason! And finally a band that lives up to being called 'alternative'. All the songs are differnt but all fit safely into the alternative zone.
The Colour and The Shape by The Foo Fighters
A+
Maybe you've gotta' LOVE grunge rock? I love these guys, they're awesome and besides that, Taylor is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. I like them even more now that Pat Smear left, man that dude was annoying.
Gish by The Smashing Pumpkins
A+
They're not the best band on the planet for no reason.
Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
A+
Nothings changed since Gish, except tha Billy's lyrics have gotten stronger and stronger. I once heard someone say that SP is the Van Halen of 1994 on. I think they may have had something there.
Odelay by Beck
A+
This has got to be one of the best albums of the year! Beck mixes hard rock with rap and country and R&B and instead of what you'd think, it's a clean and fresh sound. Definatly not some cheap rip off of some other band. (And he's adorable)
Lemon Parade by Tonic
A+
What can I say about Tonic? Just that I'm so proud that they're finnally getting more radio play. And for the record, I dug them WAY before they had a number one song. They're awesome. They're nice guys. They're definatly NEVER goina' be sell-outs (Jeff promised me!). They're EVEN BETTER live!
I have Suffered A Head Injury by the verve pipe
A+
FINNALLY!!! Now this is music!!! We had to sit through 'Lil Kim, Spice Girls and Hanson to get to the good stuff now didn't we? But it's here and it's not going away any time soon.
Pop Smear by the verve pipe

(Yeah, I know I was repeting, that was kinda' the point...)
